Gen. Simon Gatwech demands all powers allocated to SPLM/A-IO including the Teny’s powerful positions

Khartoum, Sudan.

October 5,2021—The leadership of the Kitgwang Declaration under the SPLA-IO former Chief of Staff  1st Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual and Lt. Gen. Johnson Olony is demanding everything and anything that was allocated to the SPLM/A-IO by the Revitalized Peace Agreement including Machar and wife positions, the positions of the First Vice President and the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs.

In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, the Chairman and Commander-In-Chief of the Kitgwang faction, Gen. Gatwech says for them to negotiate with the government they need assurance that they will have Machar’s position plus other positions that were allocated to the SPLM/A-IO.

“.. On the power sharing, the SPLM/A-IO (Kitgwang faction) demands for all the positions allocated to SPLM/A-IO under the FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny “, Gen. Gatwech stated in a press release.

The positions demanded by Kitgwang leadership include but  not limited to the Position of the First Vice President, Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs, which is currently occupied by Dr. Machar’s wife, Hon. Angelina Teny and other ministries.

” The SPLM/A(IO) demands all the positions allocated to SPLM/A(IO): First Vice Presidential, Presidential Adviser, National Ministers, MPs, Members of Council of State, National Commission, Governors, Commissioners, State Ministers and MPs, Foreign Missions and Ambassadors”,

The senior opposition commander is also demanding the formation of the Commission for Truth, Reconciliation and Healing to ensure that justice for the victims is achieved; however, the group is demanding “general amnesty” for themselves.

The leadership of Kitgwang faction accepted to engage in peace talks with South Sudan government last week on Saturday in Khartoum but now they want to be pardoned first to show that the government is negotiating in good faith.
