April 20, 2019(Nyamilepedia) — A South Sudanese government allied militia general, Major General Mathew Puljang, was finally brought before the General Court Martial on Thursday to testify as a witness in the case of Maj. Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang who is currently in prison in Juba facing charges that include treason.

A General Court Martial, which was set in January this year, was postponed at least 3 times within the last two weeks due to absence of the key witnesses Maj. Gen. Mathew Puljang and his counterpart Maj. Gen. Joseph Manyuat.

The two men had no show on Tuesday this week and they also failed to show up on Tuesday and Thursday last week for reasons that were not justified in court; however, they shown up on Thursday this week and testified.

In the GCM, Gen. Puljang, who testified through help of an interpreter said, the accused [Gen. Buay Rolnyang] was in communication with Gen. Paul Malong Awan and therefore they had to closely monitor his activities.

The Major General of a militia group known as the South Sudan Liberation Army(SSLLA), which was once led by late Gen. Peter Gatdet, said his forces surrounded the house of Maj. Gen. Buay Rolnyang but they did not attack him.

Gen. Puljang claimed that his forces were attacked first by the bodyguards of Gen. Buay and therefore they had to fire back in self-defense.

The court has now been adjourned to Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019 for Maj. Gen. Buay Rolnyang and his witnesses, who are all in prison to come out to testify, affirm or refutes what they find not to be true.

Maj. Gen. Puljang and his colleagues have been ordered by the GCM to remain in Juba until further notice as they may be recalled to be crossed examined after Gen. Buay testify.
