September 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s army chief, General Gabriel Jok Riak, reportedly asked President Salva Kiir last month to form a new General Court Martial (GCM) against detained army officer, Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang, a source in Bilpam said.
In July, a court was expected to announce a verdict in favor of General Buay but went silent unexpectedly after the judge was reportedly threatened and given the choices to either declare Buay as convict or go silent.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Tuesday, a military officer in Juba told the Nyamilepedia that General Gabriel Jok Riak asked President Salva Kiir to form another General Court Martial (GCM) saying the current one failed to do its work.
“General Gabriel Jok spoke to the President in August and asked him to form another General Court Martial because the current one has failed,” the source said.
“They have announced any decision whether Buay is guilty or innocent. SO they can do their work you know,” the source added.
