April 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) faction previously led by General Peter Gatdet before his death Monday issued a message of condolence on Tuesday describing him as a ‘celebrated soldier’ and an outstanding general.

Relatives and close aides confirmed to the Nyamilepedia on Monday night the passing on of General Peter Gatdet following a heart attack at a Khartoum hospital.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the secretary-general of the SSOA faction led by Gatdet, Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, described Gatdet as a celebrated soldier and praised him for his role during the liberation struggle.

“General Gadet was a celebrated soldier. He was a courageous and competent officer who led the SPLA in many successful battles,” Akol said in a statement extended to the Nyamilepedia. “In his loss we lost a great patriot and an outstanding general.”
