Gen. “By The Week” downplays defection of senior generals to president Kiir

Nov 14, 2021 — In response to defection of former military governor of the defunct Phou State, Lt. Gen. Johnson Kuol Gai and other senior commanders, the deputy commander of Division 7, Maj. Gen. Samuel Jok Kuach, popularly known as By The Week, has slumped the defection of his former boss as “insignificant”.

In a statement issued on Friday, November 12th, the Deputy Commander claims to be in full control of situation in Fangak county despite defection of the former military governor and politicians like James Kok Ruea who hail from the same county.

“The 7th infantry division in greater Fangaak in general and Fangak County in particular, 2nd brigade made this join statement today on 12 /11/2021.” Reads part of the statement extended to Nyamilepedia.

According to Maj. Gen. Samuel Jock Kuach, the defection of Lt. Gen. Johnson Kuol Gai has no significance.

“Based on baseless accusations made yesterday by some politician who declared their allegiance to President Salva Kiir Mayardit Party SPLM.IG and his forces SSPDF. In this statement I general, Samuel Jok Kuach, as deputy division Commander want to informs the SPLM.A.I.O leadership and entire supporters if people movement that such list you have seen floating in Social media is baseless and none ethical at all.” Maj. Gen. Samuel Jok continued.

According to Maj. Gen. Jok Kuach, his forces remain loyal to the First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon.

“Me and my forces are still loyal and standing firmly under leadership of C in C Dr. Riek Machar Tent Dhurgon the Country, s 1st Vice President.” Jok said.
