Gen. Stephen Buay who formed his own armed rebellion last week has designed his movement flag with six colors representing various meanings.

In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, C-In-C and Chairman of SSPM/A, Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang elaborates the six colors of his party flag which he commonly portrayed as “People’s Movement”.

“The symbolic characters or colors on the flag of the People’s movement send out the following meanings:

” (1)The black color: represents the color of the people of South Sudan;

“(2)The Red color: represents the blood of the People’s struggle for a fundamental regime change and reform agenda;

“(3) The Green color: represents our rich agricultural green lands;

“(4) The blue color in the triangle: represents our great rivers and lakes;

“(5) The sun: represents the powerful momentum of the people’s movement for a regime change and reform agenda;

“(6) The bright star inside the sun: represents a giant bright star that guides the people’s movement towards achieving an armed and peaceful path of struggle for federal democratic system of governance, freedom of expression, justice, equality, respect for human rights, gender equality, ethnic diversity and diversity of religions and spiritual beliefs”, Gen. Buay explained in a statement.

Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang defected two months ago from the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) under president Salva Kiir and joined SSUF/A of Gen. Paul Malong.

Following the Rome deal, which Malong is a part of and might possibly lead his way to Juba, Buay decided to form his own opposition group saying he is not willing to return to Juba at the moment to work again under Salva Kiir.
