September 10th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s First Vice-president Taban Deng Gai and Vice-Preaident James Wani Igga will stay as Vice-Presidents during the upcoming transitional government of national unity.

Early last month President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar along with other opposition groups signed a preliminary peace deal on the Sudanese capital Khartoum to form a new unity government.

The deal will see the return of the former vice president Machar to the First Vice President position and a new vice presidents position to be created making the presidency consist of the President and five deputies including Machar.

On Monday, a senior government official told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity that President Salva Kiir will not demote the current vice presidents only for Taban to move to the vice president position and vacate the first vice president for Machar.

“President Salva Kiir will not demote the First Vice President, he will only move him to the vice President position. This is also the case for James Wani who will keep his position,” he said.
