June 21, 2022 — The former Managing Director of state-owned oil company Nilepet Paul Adong was found dead in his hotel room in the United Arab Emirates on Sunday.
Kondok Wurok, South Sudan Consul General in Dubai and Northern Emirates, said that the former Managing Director of Nilepet was in Dubai for a medical checkup until they learnt and confirmed his demise on Sunday evening through Dubai’s police.
Wurok said details on the cause of Paul Adong’s death are yet to be released.
“Until this movement, the autopsy report has not been released but we will inform the public accordingly as soon as it is out,” Wurok said.
According to South Sudanese Diplomat, late Paul Adong was a diplomat and therefore the government is obligated to treat his case with a sense of responsibility.
“His family will be here as well any time soon. Hon. Paul was a public figure due to the previous positions he held in the Government of South Sudan and as such we are obliged to treat his case with a sense of responsibility.”
Kondok said losing Eng. Paul at such tender age is a big blow and deficit to the nation as a whole.
The late was the first Managing Director of the National Petroleum Company until his sacking in May 2015.
After his removal by President Salva Kiir, Paul was transferred to the Ministry of Petroleum where he served briefly as a senior technical advisor before establishing his private oil company.
