Oct 24, 2021 — The former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, who spent at least three days in South Sudan, has left Juba on Friday after meeting president Kiir and the Vice Presidents to discuss the Revitalized Peace Agreement and other businesses.
Jonathan, who met president Kiir officially on Wednesday returned to J1 on Friday to bid the presidency a farewell on his return to his home country but also to do some final touches on his foundation, the Goodluck Jonathan foundation and how it can contribute to peace building in South Sudan.Â
“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has this morning, met with former President of Nigeria His Excellency Goodluck Jonathan to bid farewell as he concludes his official visit to South Sudan.” President Kiir’s press office reports.
In his remarks to the media after the meeting, H.E Goodluck Johnathon said he had fruitful meetings with different stakeholders and key government officials including Vice- Presidents of the Republic of South Sudan.
The former Nigerian president and his accompanying delegation shared ideas on regional political matters and the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
“H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his guest shared ideas in regards to regional political matters and the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement” Said Kiir’s press secretary.Â
H.E Goodluck Jonathan said he would like to play a role towards the ongoing implementation of the Revitalised Peace Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan through his foundation, the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation which is committed to ensuring peace in Africa.Â
