January 30th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Former South Sudan governor of Lakes state Gen. Matur Chut has been put under house arrest by the country’s national security, sources with knowledge have claimed.
South Sudan President last week dismissed Chut as governor of Western Lakes state along with the governor of Tonj state following repeated communal fighting over cattle rustling between youth from the two and neighboring states.
One source in Juba told the Nyamilepedia that Gen. Chut has been denied permission to leave the state capital Rumbek for security reasons.
“Yes he has been told to stay at home for while until further notice. These directives came from the National Security here in Juba and so, Gen. Matur Chut is not allowed to leave for any place until the security grand him such permission,” the source said.
Another source told the Nyamilepedia that the Director of National Security Bureau Gen. Akol Koor is expected to travel to Rumbek this weekend in a secret trip aimed at exploring the security situation in the state following Chut’s dismissal.
“The Director of National Security will travel to Rumbek on Saturday and will see the security situation in teh area,” the source which maintained that his name be withheld for security reasons claimed.
