June 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement on Sunday that the reduction of diplomatic missions abroad is a ‘normal’ procedure.
This came days after the government was criticized and derided over its decision to cut diplomatic missions over financial constraints South Sudan has been facing since the beginning of the war in December 2013.
“Reducing numbers of foreign missions and diplomats in few hosts states is a routine and normal diplomatic process and that’s shouldn’t be exaggerated by propagandist as a bad things,” the foreign ministry statement seen by the Nyamilepedia partly read.
“Even, the most powerful states sometime reduces their foreign missions for some internal problems issues concerning political chaotic or turmoil, social economic, restructuring, reviewing of foreign policy and new shift in diplomatic and foreign policy toward different direction,” the statement added.
The statement further said: “South Sudan as a new nation as already been enjoying the universal privileges of wastphail 1648, UN principle and Vienna convention on diplomatic relations of 1961 and of consulate relations of 1963.”
