April 26th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s peace talks which has been previously scheduled to take place in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa Ethiopia between the 3rd and the 7th of May has been postponed to a later date again by the regional mediation.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) said in a statement on Thursday that the next round of the South Sudan’s peace process will take place on the 17th of May and warring parties through their negotiating teams are expected to sign an agreement not latter than 21st of May.
Previously, the South Sudanese peace talks was adjourned indefinitely and the mediation announced that the peace process will be conducted between the 3rd and 7th of May.
The IGAD, in the same statement, said based on out come of meeting conducted in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa by the IGAD Chairman of the Council of Ministers to access the position of the warring parties, South Sudan peace talks has been postponed revealing that there is still an existing gaps between the negotiating parties that let the IGAD to take such decision.
“It is based on this that the office of the Chairperson of IGAD Council of Ministers decided to postpone the next High-Level Revialization Forum phase II to allow the continuation of the shuttle diplomacy meetings with the Parties to the South Sudan conflict in order to have a meaningful outcome of the mediation,” the statement read in part.
