December 17th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The first anniversary of the demise of Nuer spiritual leader Mut Turoah Nyewey who died in Mayom last year after battling a long illness will be conducted in Juba on Saturday, a family member has said.
Popular Nuer spiritual leader Nyawey who is better known as “Gatdeng” died of throat and urethral cancer, according to South Sudanese officials and family members, in December last year in Mayom.
He was under treatment in both Juba and Khartoum before he was returned to his hometown of Mayom shortly before he died.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia on Tuesday, Gatdeng’s son, Gatkuoth Mut Turoah, said the function will be held at Juba’s Mangateen neighborhood in Juba and that everybody was invited.
“The family of the late Spiritual leader Mut Turoah are inviting the friends and relatives to the memorial event of their son and leader as well,” Gatkuoth said.
“All Nuer community elders, tradition rulers, USB team and other cultural dance to perform cultural dance, songs and stories,” he added.
He further said the event which would be “none-political” will take place from 06:00am to 08:00pm.
