October 14th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Scores have been killed following a government attack against a base belong to rebel forces loyal to former SPLA General and now leader of the National Salvation Front, a rebel spokesperson have said in a statement.
A part from the statement, several residences in Wau told the Nyamilepedia that government troops in Wau had moved out to the direction of Bagari Payam which is held partially by rebel forces.
In a statementr extended to the Nyamilepedia on Saturday, the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) faction led by Gen. Thomas Cirilo said they have been attaclked by government troops in Wau and Yei River states.
“On the 3rd through 7th of October, 2018 Juba regime launched an attack against defensive positions of opposition forces in Wau, Western Bahr El-Ghazal State, and Yei town, Yei River States,” the statemenr signed by the group’s Secretary-General Kwajc Lasu partly read.
She said in the statement that their group, the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by Thomas Cirilo condemn in the strongest term possible as it violates the ceasefire agreement and protection of civilians signed in December 2017.
“SSOA strongly condemns these atrocities, looting, and would like to remind the government of South Sudan of its commitments to protect civilians in the Cessation of Hostilities, Protection of Civilians and Humanitarian Access Agreement. (CoHA 20 I7) signed on 21st of December 20 I7,” the statement added.
The South Sudan Opposition Alliance – Thomas Cirilo (SSOA-TC) is a coalition of armed and none armed five rebel groups and they are not part of the South Sudan peace deal signed last month in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa by President Salva Kiir Mayardiit and opposition leader Dr Riek Machar Teny.
The agreeement was however signed by the other faction of the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) led by Changsong Lew Chang who is the leader of the Federal Democratic Party (FDP) as well as other groups including the one led by Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin.
