Tuesday, April 08, 2025(Nyamilepedia) – Today, a contingent of South Sudan government troops, the SSPDF exchanged gunfire in the oil-producing town of Paloch of Upper Nile State.

According to eyewitnesses, the fighting in Paloch erupted as soldiers in the town refused deployment as war, which started in Nasir last month, continues to escalate northward.

According to the insiders., the operation commander in Paloch is commanded to organize a battalion to reinforce the government forces which have been constantly facing defeats since the fall of Nasir to the White Army, killing every soldier including the senior commander, Lt. Gen. David Majur, between March 4th and 8th.

Refusing deployment, a group of solders told their commander to deploy the foreign troops that have been hired by President Salva Kiir and is well paid to fight the war.

“We have not been paid for over a year. Our families are suffering and we are suffering here. Why are those in Juba spending millions of dollar on Ugandan and RSF when we are not paid. It means we are not good for them. Let the UPDF and RSF fight for them” Said Lt. Col. Bol.

Some soldiers believe that they were being targeted because of their ethnicity.

Soldiers from the Nuer tribe said there was a conspiracy to send only the few Nuer soldiers in Paloch to frontline to fight the white army, or else, they risked being disarmed, tortured or killed for disobeying their commanding officer.

At the time of this report, it was not clear if those defecting will declare their allegiance to another warring party or they will disappear in thin air and return home, if they survive.

In other reports, South Sudan government is accused of hiring the Sudan rebel, Rapid Support Force, of the notorious General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo who is accused of war crimes in Darfur and recent violence that reduced Sudan to ruin in less than 2 years.

South Sudan government seems to be losing its command of its army and resorted to hiring mercenaries from Uganda and now Sudan. While Uganda troops have bombed civilians in Upper Nile and fought around Juba in Raja and Luri, it is not clear if they will continue to fight if the war continues to escalate.
