Dr. Riek Machar, the Chairman of SPLM/SPLA in Opposition, appointed Amb. Par on December 1st, 2016 alongside Hon. Henry D. Odwar, the deputy Chairman and Deputy C-in-C of SPLM/A (IO), and Gen. Tingo Peter, the former military governor of Wau State who now leads SPLM(IO) as its Secretary General.
The Chairman of Fangak Community in the United States said his community is confident that Amb. Par will deliver in this assignement.

The Fangak community in USA sees these new appointments as the most reinvigoration needed to revise and move the armed opposition to victory
“We hope that together with all your newly appointees comrades will work very hard to bring back commitment, visions, trust, and bright new notions to our people movement, SPLM-IO under leadership of Dr. Riek Machar, and topple the killer regime in Juba so that you can return back home South Sudanese citizens who are now fleeing the Country and those who reside in UNMISS detention camps in fear of being killed by tyrant government in Juba and its money lovers supporters” Kuol said.
The new appointments are also welcomed by the Red Army Foundation in Opposition(RAFO) and many supporters of the rebel movement on social media.
Dr. Machar, who currently remains in South Africa remains active and committed to reorganize and lead the armed opposition, SPLM/SPLA(IO), in South Sudan.
Machar has led key portfolios in the past rebel movements before South Sudan independent since 1983 and continued to serve the country as its First Vice President at independent from 2011 to 2013 where he was sacked by President Kiir after political differences over the leadership of SPLM, the ruling party, and the entire leadership of South Sudan, reached its climax.
For the past three years, political and military attempts to end South Sudan conflict have failed and war drags on in nearly all parts of the country including Central Equatoria State that harbors the national capital.
