June 24th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Family of a Sudanese lady who has been missing since May has said their daughter has been found while under detention in one of Cairo prisons.

Ozaz Abdou, when missing on May 28th in Cairo after leaving the family apartment supposedly for an exercise at a theater in the Egyptian capital and has never been seen until yesterday.

Stephen William Wichar, family member, told the Nyamilepedia at the time that Ozaz “Left the house at 12:30PM [on May 28] going for an exercise with Egyptian colleagues in a theater.” Wichar added“However, when we called her few hours later, no one was responding to out calls.”

In a brief Facebook statement on Sunday, Wichar announced that his sister had been found being detained at an unidentified Egyptian prison and the circumstance under which she is detained is unknown.

He said the family is working with the Egyptian police to know from them why she was put under detention without a prior court case or even informing the family.

To all the family and friends, this is to inform you that sister Ozaz Abdou who went missing for almost a month, since May 28th has been found in one of the prisons in Egypt,” Wichar said in a brief statement.

As we all know that a detained person should be allowed to inform his/her family for a period not exceeding 48 hours, we still don’t know why she was arrested,” he added saying the family which is supposed to be made aware of Ozaz’s whereabouts by the government are working to have more details at a later date about h er detention.

Egyptian police were not available for comment.
