June 29th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Family members of the detained SPLA officer who was arrested by the SPLA in late May in fighting in Mayom said they have been regularly denied to see their son in the capital Juba by the government.

General Buay Rolnyang who was the deputy over-all commander of government’s Fifth Infantry Division in Wau was captured after reportedly trying to defect to opposition forces under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon.

“We have been denied the opportunity by the government to meet Gen. Buay Rolnyang. The government said the government will inform the family once the government decide to let him meet the family,” one family member told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

Another family member said the detained SPLA officer have also been denied access to lawyers by the government.

“Gen. Buay also is denied to meet lawyers. The government said early this month that he will be taken to court by the end of this month but now it is the 29th day of the month so I don’t think that there will be a normal court procedures,” the family member also said on the condition of anonymity.

Buay, after having been summoned to Juba fled Wau with 150 troops and went to Mayom to protest orders from the general headquarters in Bilpam, he told Jok Riak that he would first report to see his family in Mayom before reporting to Juba.
