April 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Reports that ousted Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir has been moved to the country’s notorious Kobar Prison are untrue, a member of al-Bashir’s family said Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Reuters and local media outlets in Sudan reported that al-Bashir, who was ousted by the Sudanese army last week, had been taken to the detention facility, along with prominent members of his regime.

“Omar [al-Bashir] is still at his personal residence and any report saying otherwise is inaccurate,” an immediate family member speaking on the condition of anonymity told Anadolu Agency on Thursday.

Sudan’s ruling Military Transitional Council (MTC), let by Gen. Abdel Fatah Burhan has yet to issue a statement on al-Bashir’s whereabouts almost a week after saying the longest serving leader is being detained in “safe place”.

However, a spokesman for the ruling military transitional council announced on Wednesday that two of al-Bashir’s brothers had been arrested on corruption charges and are being held at the facility where al-Bashir is reportedly being kept.
