Sept 25th, 2018(Nyamilepedia) — Almost four months after the signing of The Khartoum Declaration of Agreement, which set terms and principles for the Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan(R-ARCISS), the families of the detained political detainees call on President Salva Kiir to release their relatives.
The KDA and Security Arrangement clearly outlined that in order to implement the peace agreement all prisoners of war and political detainees must be set free, a call that the government has so far ignored.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia, the Family of former Chairperson of the SPLM-IO committee for humanitarian affairs, Aggrey Idri Izbon, appeals to President Kiir to grant a presidential pardon to their father.
In a statement extended to our editorial team on Tuesday, the son of the kidnapped senior SPLM/A official, Keyidri Ezbon Idri urged South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit to feel the pain the entire family is going through.
“Your Excellency President Salva Kiir, I am appealing to you not only as my president but as a father who can feel that gap in a family where the father is not there. You have children and your children will feel the same way that I am feeling now.” Keyidri appeals in tears.
The family members deplored psychological and emotional effects they have suffered following the kidnap of their father in the Kenyan Capital Nairobi.
“We have been psychologically tortured that we cannot talk to our father nor know his whereabouts. Your Excellency, this has become too much for us. I have no political affiliation and as such I am not writing as a politician but as a son of Aggrey Ezbon Idri” He said.
He urged the Government to grant amnesty and release their father as per the implementation matrix of the revitalized agreement signed by South Sudan warring parties.
“There might be some political differences that led to his abduction from Nairobi, but since peace is signed, I am virtually begging you in the Name of God, the Almighty, that you release our father to come back to us. I know it is within your limits to do that. Kindly hear the plea of his children and let him free. The glory and honor will go back to our God whom we all serve. It is my prayers that God will touch your heart and release him” said Keyidri
Finally, the family of former Chairperson of the SPLM-IO committee for humanitarian affairs, Aggrey Idri Izbon pleaded with the Inter-governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) to secure the release of political detainees and prisoners of war (POW) that have been held under detention without charges.
“I am also pleading with the the East African Bloc, the IGAD and all well wishers to make sure all political detainees and prisoners of war are released to pave ways for peace. That will be a good gesture from you Mr president” he said.
The two senior officials of South Sudan’s SPLM/A (IO) disappeared off the streets of Nairobi, Dong Samuel Luak, a prominent South Sudanese lawyer and human rights activist was kidnapped on January, 23 2017 by unidentified security personnel in the capital, Nairobi.
Aggrey Idri, Chairperson of the SPLM-IO committee for humanitarian affairs, went missing on January 24, 2017. The two senior officials were deported to Juba by South Sudan National Security operatives and their whereabouts and fate are unknown.
