March 8th 2020 (Nyamilepedia) – A former South Sudan minister and state governor has been ordered by the Sudanese security to leave the capital Khartoum weeks after defecting to join the SPLM-IO led by First Vice-President Dr. Riek Machar.
James Kok Ruea, a former South Sudan minister of humanitarian affairs and disaster management who also served as the first governor of the defunct Fangak state resigned from President Salva Kiir’s SPLM party last week to join – a day later – the SPLM-IO.
He declared his intention to join the main armed opposition group during a press conference he held in the Sudanese capital Khartoum last week.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this morning, an opposition source said James Kok has been given 48 hours to leave the country by the Sudanese security agent who told him that he was not allowed to remain in Sudan for the next 48 hours.
“James Kok Ruea has been told to leave Sudan by the security here in Khartoum. They told him that he don’t have the permission to remain in this country for the next 48 hours and failure to leave will have consequences,” the source said from Khartoum.
The Nyamilepedia could not verify the development as several contacts to James Kok and the Sudanese authorities were not successful.
