April 10th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A former senior member of South Sudan United Front (SSUF) led by South Sudan’s former army chief turned rebel leader, Gen. Paul Malong Awan, on Wednesday decided to return to the ruling SPLM faction led by President Salva Kiir.

Lewis Anei Madut, who was also a governor of South Sudan’s defunct Warrab state said in a statement this morning in the capital Juba that he dissolved his party and decided to return to the ruling SPLM faction led by President Salva Kiir after several calls by Kiir to return back.

Anie in May 2018 decided to join Malong’s SSUF with his Republican Party of South Sudan after he decided to resign as the Secretary General of the Jieng Council of Elders, a tribal entity working as a advisory board for President Salva Kiir.

“I am here to announce the dissolution of the Republican Party of South Sudan. I am also here to announce my re-joining the mother party [SPLM]. I and my comrades that were with me in the Republican Party will hear it from today that their party, the Republican Party of South Sudan has been dissolved,” he said in a statement.

“I came back in response to the call of the president because I do not want any blood to be shed because of me. I have come back to join the peace process, reconciliation and healing. I do not need anything from the government, but just to be a member of the SPLM. I urge my party members to join SPLM,” he added.
