October 4th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The former spokesman of the opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar who is now the First Vice President designate has been told that he will not be released as part of the permanent ceasefire agreement signed in June 2018 by the South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardiit and oppoisition leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny.

South Sudan government on Wednesday announced that it has released around twenty political detainees in line with the implmentation of the permanent ceasefire agreement signed in June this year.

However, several sources told the Nyamilepedia that the government had informed Dak that he is not included in the release of the political detainees and as such he will not be released.

“Gatdet has been told that he will not be released because he is not included in the amnesty and the agreement which was signed about four or three months ago. This is very unfortunate and we thought all the political detainees are of the same feathers,” a relative to James Gatdet told the Nyamilepedia on the condition of anonymity.

Another source in Juba told the Nyamilepedia as well that Gatdet’s case has already been put under the court and as such he is not included in the political detainees.

“Gatdet is considered not as a poluitical detainee now because his case and fate has already gone through judicial process and the court has made the final decision of sentencing him,” the source said.
