July 16th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – A senior former official of the SPLM former political detainees (FDs) who resigned last week has said that her colleagues in the group wanted her to vote for government position event if it means creation of more states.
Last week, Nyenagwek Kuol Mareng, representative of the former detainees to the Independent Boundaries Commission (IBC) resigned citing differences with the FDs leadership over her decision to vote for the return to 10 states.
“I felt like I had to do something, and that’s why I resigned because it looks like the principles are thrown away. And it looks like we are for our own interest,” Nyenagwek in an interview with Eye Radio on Monday.
She said her decision to vote for 10 states in the IBC has stirred controversy with his FDs colleagues who said she should vote in favor of government position on the state issue even if it means creation of more states.
“Unfortunately, some members were not happy, they [FDs] said why I went ahead and voted for 10 states. They [FDs] don’t have any interest in 10 states, they [FDs] told me even if the government wants 100 states, I should go for it,” Nyenagwek who was once an information minister in the defunct Warrab state said.
“I don’t feel any regret even though I got a lot of accusations. I got a lot of attacks from some of my members of FDs,” she added.
