Ethiopia’s Shura Kitata wins Men’s title from Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge in the Londons Marathon

Oct 04, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Ethiopia’s Shura Kitata won the Men London Marathon in 2.05.41 hours as Eliud Kiipchoge lost his first ever defeat since 2013.

Kenya’s Vincent Kipchumba came in second position as he finished in 2.05.42 hrs, just a second slower than Shura Kitata while Ethiopia’s Sisay Lemma came in the third position

Eliud Kipchoge was widely expected to lift a fifth London crown but was never able to impose his usual speed in the relentless cold rain.

He finished in the eight position as he took 2hrs 06.49 minutes.

Kipchoge, who had won all his previous four London Marathons and had not lost over the distance in seven years, dropped alarmingly off the pace around the 22-mile mark.

He accepted the defeat but expressed his disappointment with his results.

“I am really disappointed… the last 15km I felt it. I felt well in the start but had a problem with my right ear after it blocked and then I really cramped and had problems with my hip,” Kipchoge told BBC Sport after the race.

Kipchonge accepted the defeated and said he will work hard to win the next race.

“But this is how sport is, we should accept defeat and focus for the winning next time.” He added.

Kipchoge is very hopeful that he will be back to winning again.

“Absolutely there are more marathons in me and I will come back again,” he said.
