This comes after Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed took bold decision to accompany his forces to battle fields.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia, the federal government announces that they managed to retained two strategic towns identified as Dessie and Kombolcha on Monday.

“Ethiopian forces have recaptured the strategic towns of Dessie and Kombolcha from rebellious Tigrayan forces”, the statement reads.

The federal government stated that it is very important to retake territory it recently lost to rebels.

Forces aligned with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) had taken control of the towns, in the Amhara region, just over a month ago.

However, Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) spokesperson, Getachew Reda did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Last month, the U.S ordered the evacuation exercise for its nationals residing in Ethiopia fearing that the Capital Addis Abba could be captured by the opposition forces of Tigrayans.

But the federal government responded such rumors and termed it as “western propaganda” against Africa and Ethiopia in particular and urged the west not meddle in Ethiopian affairs.
