Many South Sudan men, who believe to have made it life, wear expensive suits and jewerlies but for Emmanuel Jal, who is worth over $3 million U.S Dollar, such expensive dress codes do not appeal to him.

In an exclusive interview with Eye Radio on Tuesday, when asked to explain his dress code, Emmanuel Jal said his dress code is a sign of standing in solidarity with refugees who have been living in bad conditions for years since the outbreak of war in 2013 that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced millions others.

” Basically, I do this because of my people and I do it to give them my solidarity in their situation”, Emmanuel Jal said during the interview.

According to Emmanuel Jal, who comes from the most affected Nuer-tribe, millions of South Sudanese continue to suffer in concentration camps, refugee camps and others in poor rural areas.

He said his sojourn to Juba is to explore the general situation in the country and said he found out that the security situation became better where one can go out at night.

Jal said many people thinks South Sudan is a war-torn country and said his visiting will portray a good message back to the world about the inner picture of the youngest nation which he believes has significantly improved.

Emmanuel Jal has been in exile for more than two decades due to the lack of peace and social insecurity in South Sudan.

He has been singing for peace and unity for many years in attempt to change the narrative in his country; however, South Sudan returned to war shortly after independent and that has continued for the past 8 years.
