January 29, 2022—The Unity State Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports ordered banning of a new cultural dance in Unity State, saying it contradicts the already existing culture.
In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia on Thursday, Mr. David Gai Jiejor, the Unity State Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports issued a ministerial order 4/27/2022 AD prohibiting the newly emerging cultural dance which he says is not matching with existing culture.
“In exercise of the powers vested in me under article 101(1) read together with section (B) of Unity State Constitution 2011 AD amended 2016 of the Republic of South Sudan, I, Hon. David Gai Jiejor Ngueny Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports do hereby issue this ministerial order for the prohibition of newly cultural dance practices (uses) contradicted to existed cultural dance background in Unity State “, the statement reads issued by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
Minister says all cultural groups and other relevant institutions in the state are advised to refrain from practicing such strange dancing and focus on Nuer culture which is known worldwide.
According to ministerial order, all county commissioners are directed to respect and implement the order.
Minister says failure to comply with such order shall bear accountability on cultural entities found responsible to have ignored this order.
“.. Failure to execute this order by any cultural group shall lead to accountability, further measures and suspension for such cultural dances from its activities by relevant authority in accordance to the law”, the statement added.
