April 7, 2022 — The government of the Arab Republic of Egypt receives appreciations from South Sudan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation following its recent order to exempting South Sudanese in Cairo from possessing regular visa residence.
Early this week, the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt under the Leadership of H.E: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued an order exempting South Sudanese residing in Egypt from paying for regular visa residence which is mandatory to all foreign Nationals in the Country.
Speaking to Nyamilepedia this morning, Mr. Gattiek Wichar, the Press Secretary in the office of Hon. Manawa, said they appreciate the Egyptian Government and welcome their exemption order, adding that the move shows the importance of relationship between the two countries.
“.. This comes after Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hon. Manawa Peter Gatkuoth requested Egyptian Government Leadership during his visit to Cairo on the sidelines of the third edition of Cairo Water Week (CWW2020) to consider the situation of South Sudanese citizens in Egypt whose conditions doesn’t allow them to possess residence visa as required by the host country (Egypt)”,Mr. Wichar told Nyamilepedia.
“.. Therefore, in light of the said order, the South Sudan Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation under the auspices of Hon. Manawa Peter Gatkuoth would like to welcome the decision and appreciate the Egyptian Government and particularly H.E: Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt for the great step he has taken with his government and this move demonstrates that the bilateral relations between two friendly countries are progressing day-after-day and shall always continue”,Mr. Wichar added.
According to a memo that was circulated by the Egyptian Embassy in South Sudan, the Arab Republic of Egypt will no longer require South Sudanese under the age of 16 years old and over the age of 50 year old to have a visa to enter and reside in Egypt.
The Egyptian government has also exempted all South Sudanese females of all ages from holding a valid visa and require males between the age of 16 to 50 year old to get a visa but without paying.
