“.. SPLM, We are ready for the 2023 general elections. And I nominate President Kiir as the flag bearer for the presidential elections”, Governor Louis Lobong told people of Eastern Equatoria on Friday.
SPLM senior member, Mark Nyipuoch said, he endorsed President Kiir and their next candidate for the party.
“.. I am absolutely standing with Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit as our flag bearer and I will always standing with him until he becomes older”, Mark said.
On his part, SPLM Acting Secretary General, Peter Lam Both said it’s very important to organize elections in the country so that the scenario of taking guns against state to be awarded or put above others is closed once and for all.
“.. We need to organize elections so that people choose leaders of their choice. And we want to put in to an end through elections the idea of going to bush and when you come back you’re promoted and put above everyone”, Lam said during rally organized in Eastern Equatoria State.
Last year, FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny who doubles as the Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-In-Opposition (SPLM-IO) said during his party meeting that the idea of going for elections without resolving many outstanding issues will never materialize.
He said there were four perquisites conditions to be met for elections to be free and fair that includes unification of the National Army, Repatriation of Externally Displaced Persons, Census and prevalence of permanent constitution in the country.
