Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, who is one of the signatories to the Revitalized Peace Agreement has criticized some elements he dubbed as lazy brains symptomized by inability or refusal to revisit previous decisions  regarding the national matters.

This comes after many took it to media criticizing the suggestion made by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny last week that South Sudan should adopt new name that matches with origin and history of the people of South Sudan.

According to Dr. Lam, some politicians are just too lazy to revisit decisions that were made in the past but also brushes off those who are too quick to take on matters that should be dealt with by the parliament.

“Lazy Brains are symptomized by inability or unwilling to revisit decisions taken 10 years ago.” Dr. Law twitted on Tuesday.

“More so by not discussing ideas on their own merits however absurd they might sound” the top opposition leader added.

Dr. Lam stressed that, despite all suggestions and counter arguments regarding the matter, the decision to change country’s name falls under jurisdiction of National Parliament.

“However, the change of name is the competence of parliament” Dr. Lam emphasized.

On 11th of December 2021, the first vice president Dr. Riek Machar suggested that South Sudan should adopt the name “People’s Republic of Sudan” instead of “South Sudan” because he believes that South Sudan is just a direction not a name. But such suggestion caught mixed reactions from citizens across the country most of whom saying it’s not the right time for South Sudan to discuss issues to do with name rather than peace, security and freedom.
