September 15th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – Disagreement has emerged within the main armed opposition movement (SPLM-IO) over the decision to move the group’s headquarters to the capital Juba.

The group’s leader Dr. Riek Machar last week decided – following a high-level meeting with President Salva Kiir in Juba – to move the SPLM-IO headquarters to Juba after declaring the end of the war.

However, a senior opposition official in Khartoum told the Nyamilepedia this afternoon that the decision by Machar to move the headquarters to Juba was “unilateral” and no leadership decision made on the matter.

It was a unilateral decision. Dr. Riek didn’t consult the leadership. The last meeting of the political bureau was last year and since then, no meeting had been called upon by the chairman or the secretary-general,” the official said from Khartoum.

So, I don’t think the political bureau will agree to the decision,” the official said.
