Sept 4, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —– Latest reports from the border town of Nimule indicate that at least ten people were killed and many others wounded this morning along the Juba-Nimule road.

The attack, which was launched by unknown gunmen at 8Am, targeted a bus known as Friendship and another bus known as Crown Coaches.

According to eye witnesses, at least 10 people were killed in Friendship coaches and many others were wounded.

The buses left Juba in the early hours of Sunday morning heading to Uganda on government account that the road was safe.

Like other major roads in Equatoria, Juba-Nimule highway has witnessed many skirmishes for the last three weeks as warring factions are fighting for its control.

At least three members of South Sudan national security and members of SPLA loyal to president Salva Kiir were killed on Juba-Nimule road within the last three days.

Although the identity of attackers is yet to be established, many local youth from these areas have fought Salva Kiir’s forces for the last two years following arbitrary arrests of youth and chiefs in Nimule in 2014.

In other reports, there were shooting in Juba last evening by unidentified “unknown gunmen”.

The gunmen in Juba were reportedly protesting the visit of the UNSC to South Sudan to negotiate deployment of a regional protection force and to hear the stories of the conflict from the victims and civil rights groups in the country.

South Sudan’s government has tried to eliminate freedom of speech and balance reporting of stories from all sides for the last two years, however, the victims in the UN camps have had access to international media and rights groups, something that bothers Kiir’s supporters and sometimes put the IDPs at risk.

During this rare visit of the UNSC, victims in Juba and Wau will have a chance to tell their stories and desires, hoping that the world body could make a different on their lives, however, the UNSC also looks up to the warring factions for a durable solution.
