CS Prof. Magoha tells parents to prepare the remaining pupils for school

Oct 12, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — Kenya’s Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has asked parents with kids in primary and high school to prepare as they will be reporting back in a week or two.

Education Cabinet secretary Prof. George Magoha….

The CS said this while on a tour to inspect the reopening of Nairobi Primary and Olympic Primary schools as grade 4, Class 8 and Form Four learners resume learning for their second term.

“The Ministry will observe the situation in one or two weeks, then we shall recall the other children,” said Prof Magoha.

Magoha asked parents with children who have pre-existing conditions to inform schools.

Schools are also required to form COVID-19 committee.

The cabinet secretary advised schools to avoid co-curricular activities and assemblies, insisting that their safety must be prioritized.

Magoha also warned schools planning to bar learners who failed to register for online classes during Covid-19 recess saying such a move would be a criminal offence.

“For the private schools where some people have tried to equate reopening with those who had online classes, we want to make it very clear, that all children will start from where they left. If you send a child home because the child did not register for online classes, then that is criminal. We shall come for you,” he warned.

“All children will resume syllabus from where they left in March when schools closed,” he added.

The CS also took the opportunity to plead with the principals to ensure that no child is sent home on account of school fees both public and private schools

“I have said that as we comply with government requirement, for the boarding schools where boarding charges are charged, may I plead with our principals to ensure that no child is sent home on account of school fees both public and private schools,” Magoha added.
