October 21st 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan leaders have become liability to their people because they can’t solve issues affecting the country, Deng Alor Kuol, the leader of the SPLM-FDs in Juba said on Sunday.
Alor was speaking during a meeting of the signatories to the revitalized peace agreement with a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) delegation that was in Juba on Sunday to meet President Salva Kiir Mayardit over the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.
Currently, the parties are on a loggerhead over security arrangements and the issue of the number and boundaries of the states. The agreement provided for the establishment of a unified army, police and national security and addressing the dispute on states.
These arrangements are not currently in place and opposition groups such as SPLM-IO led by Dr. Riek Machar and NDM led by Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin wants the government formation be postponed beyond November 12th deadline.
The government believes such arrangements should be resolved later reiterating its early comment that it will go on with the unity government formation in November.
Speaking before the parties’ meeting with the UN delegation on Sunday, Alor said “We have become a liability to our people as leaders because our people do not see us sensitive enough to their problems and to be able to solve them.”
“We need to show that we can move forward together to resolve our differences.”
