January 4th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The controversial South Sudanese millionaire, who was arrested by the Ugandan military intelligence in November last year, has been released after almost two months in jail.
Lawrence Lual Malong Yor, who also calls himself “The Young Tycoon”, announced his release in a brief statement saying the Ugandan army kept him safe and treated him well.
“The Ugandan internal security arrested me on the 14/11/2018, and they kept me there until today. They kept me in a safe place and gave me food of my choice,” he said.
Malong further said the Ugandan army never investigated him or conducted any particular investigation saying he was only asked questions such as “why” he was posting videos showering with money on the social media.
“While under arrest, they have asked me generic questions on why I posted videos on social media ‘showering myself with money?’ There was no particular investigation about my business in Uganda that they asked and even if they were to ask, I wouldn’t answer because it is not their role,” he added.
Malong said it is a duty of the police and not the army to arrest him about any wrongdoing saying he was lastly told to leave the way they arrested him in November.
“It is the role of police especially CID to investigate me. I was sure that I had done nothing wrong. I just told to go and like did they did when they picked me up in Nov,” he said.
“They drove me back to my hotel, but I have to be sincere that they never said anything wrong or even mistreated me in any way,” he added.
The controversial business man was arrested on November 14 by the Ugandan intelligence over unknown charges.
He was picked from a hotel in Central Kampala and was later taken to a military facility outside Kampala.
