August 9th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The Chinese government has reiterated its commitment to support the implementation of the revitalized peace process and pledged to provide medicines, blankets and food supplies totaling 3,000 tons of rice for South Sudan armed groups at cantonment sites.
“The Chinese side will work with the South Sudanese side and related mechanisms to work out standard procedures of establishing pilot cantonment sites, and make good use of assistance provided by China and other countries,” Hua Ning, Chinese ambassador to Juba said in a statement.
“China will provide 3000 tons of rice, 2500 tents, 50000 blankets and a batch of medicine to support the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement,” he added.
The Chinese Ambassador further said “peace development and humanitarian assistance are closely related, and only by achieving peace can the root causes of humanitarian crises be eliminated.”
Mr. Ning further urged the international community to provide funding for the implementation of the peace agreement so that a permanent peace is built in the young African nation.
“Meanwhile, the international community should also increase direct support for the implementation of the RARCSS, so as to accelerate the peace process in South Sudan.”
