Sep 19, 2020(Nyamilepedia) — The Chief of Staff of the SPLA in Oppisition, Lt. Gen. In a statement extended to Nyamilepedia, Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual appeals to South Sudan peace guarantors Troika, AU and IGAD to accept their request for their chairman to be given a chance to go and brief his military leadership in person.

“However, I have written an appeal to South Sudan peace guarantors Troika, AU and IGAD to accept our request as a movement that the Chairman and Commander in Chief (C-in-C), First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan, Dr. Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, should be given a chance in order to meet and brief the SPLA (IO) Military Leadership (ML) about the status of the peace in the GHQs,” Said Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual in a statement that he wrote to peace guarantors.

According to General Simon Gatwech Dual, the SPLA-IO Military High Command’s Leadership has learned that the revitalized peace agreement in Juba is not progressing and therefore the armed opposition leader should find a way to come out to brief them.

“The Military High command’s leadership (MHCL) of the SPLA (IO) has learned that the ongoing peace agreement in Juba has a lot of complications and inherited some sorts of procrastination which are debilitating the implementation of the agreement especially, the security arrangements which is the most paradigm that should have been solved in the first month prior to the agreement,” Lt. General Simon Gatwech Dual said

The leader of the Opposition, Dr. Machar travelled to the capital in February this year in a controversial move that left his military command wondering of his safety while in Juba.

For two years the revitalized peace agreement has not been implemented and Machar’s presence has not changed anything; however, leaders in Juba are positive that the leaders are building trust and maybe the agreement could be implemented.
