June 18th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The leader of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA), Gabriel Changson Chang, has relinquished power ending stalemate over who should lead the opposition umbrella, an opposition spokesman allied to him said Tuesday.
Wazir Michael Liah, the spokesman for Federal Democratic Party (FDP) led by Changson told the Nyamilepedia in an exclusive interview that Changson made the decision to resign early this month as part of his effort to reunite the opposition consortium.
“Chairman Changson has decided to resign as the chairman of South Sudan Opposition Alliance. This is to make sure that the unity of the alliance is fully restored and is strong again,” Liah said.
He said the alliance leadership has been temporarily handed over to the leader of People’s Democratic Movement (PDM), Josephine Lagu, until a new leadership is unveiled at the end of the pre-interim period.
“The alliance has decided to handover the leadership, temporarily, to PDM leader Ms Josephine Lagu until the end of the pre-interim arrangements and the a new leadership is unveiled by the alliance,” Liah added.
He revealed that there are plans to give the leadership of South Sudan Opposition Alliance to the faction led by late General Peter Gatdet Yaka who died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum of heart attack in early May.
“There is possibility that the leadership of SSOA will be handed over to the group previously led by General Peter Gatdet,” Liah added.
