This comes after many media commentators and youth activists demanded Mr. Gola Boyoi to resign from the Chairman of the National Youth Union after the President issued an order prohibiting all military and security personnel to abstain from practicing politics.

In a statement seen by Nyamilepedia on Sunday, Gola says although serving in the army is a National Service that a patriot should feel proud of doing, he says he never worked in the army or national security.

“Although serving in the army could be an honor for every patriotic citizen to serve the nation, I have never served in the Army or any other regular forces in general,” Chairman of South Sudan National Youth Union, Gola in a statement extended to Nyamilepedia.

Mr. Gola accused his political enemies of being behind such speculations saying that they should stop politicking and should instead join him hand-in-hand to enhance youth’s conditions.

“I was astonished to see some people, especially some youth, peddling the unsubstantiated allegations of 2019, when I was contesting for the SSNYU Chairmanship. Yes, I didn’t take it serious that time for I knew it was the electioneering period and anything could be coined up against the aspirant,” Gola said.

According to top youth leader, the politicking period is over, saying that instead of “stabbing him at the back every now and then”, he kindly advising the youth to rally behind him so that he continues working for the youth programs.

Gola has long been accused of being a captain in the National Security by some who claim to be his colleagues in National Security.

President Kiir on New Year’s Eve issued a republican order banning soldiers serving in the army and regular forces from participating in national or communal politics.

President’s call has been welcomed by many citizens on social media who are now calling on army generals who are currently serving in various political posts to retire from the army or quit politics.
