September 12th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) faction led by Denay Chagor has unveiled a new leadership structure, according to a statement extended to Nyamilepedia Wednesday.
Five opposition leaders including the former interim chairperson of the unified opposition consortium Changson Gabriel Chang said in the statement that they formed the new leadership faction after an intensive consultation within the different groups that constitutes the faction.
“The Leadership of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) would like to take the opportunity to inform the people of South Sudan and all peace partners to the R-ARCSS that, after serious consultations and meetings, the SSOA Leadership in its meeting no 1 and 2 of the 2nd July and 06th August 2019 resolved to finalize its structures,” the five leaders said in the statement.
They said the SSOA leadership “shall rotate for a period of six (6) months as stated in the charter and regulations.
“After having undertaken the church-brokered consultation and dialogue since Mach 2019 followed by an internal dialogue among ourselves, the parties agreed that the unity of SSOA is paramount and decided to bring the two groups together.”
The statement further announced that the new SSOA chairperson is Denay Jock Chagor of South Sudan United Movement (SSUM) deputized by Malong Majok and Changson himself has been made the group’s secretary-general.
Tut Weang of UDRA becomes the secretary for external relations and Jacob Nyier Gatkuoth would head the group’s security department.
