Jan 05, 2021(Nyamilepedia) — The central Equatoria State Security Committee today convened an emergency security meeting in the state government secretariat to address the security issues within the State.
The meeting, which was led by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony, was attended by Joint Technical National Security Committee under the leadership of the chief of south Sudan people’s defense forces, Gen. Johnson Juma Okot, the Inspector General of South Sudan police service, Gen. Majok Akech Malok and the Mundari community led by its chairman, Maj. Gen. Clement Wani Konga.
According to a statement shared by the Central Equatoria press secretary, Cde Derick Derickson, the meeting extensively deliberated on the security situation in Terekeka, Juba and other areas across the state.
“Extensively, the joint Technical National Security committee together with the State Security Committee deliberated comprehensively on issues surrounding the security situation in Terekeka, Juba and other areas across the state which are relatively calmed with exception of the persisting pockets of insecurity reported in Terekeka County,” read the statement.
The statement further said that the joint technical national security committee encouraged the state security committee together with the tasked committee to expeditiously work out to arrest the appalling situation in Terekeka County for peace and unity to prevail in the cattle camps and generally in Terekeka County.
Cde Derick Derickson said that the committee called on the Terekeka people to remain calm and desist from intercommunal clashes as the security apparatus are handling the issue.
“The Committee Members further calls on the general civil population in Terekeka county to remain calmed and desist from inter-communal clashes and opt for peaceful coexistence as both the Joint technical national security committee and the state security committee through its security apparatus are handling the matter with the utmost care given the reoccurrences reported in the past few weeks of last year,” the statement read.
According to the press secretary, the state Security committee has reiterated their earlier call of evacuating some of the cattle herders in the contested areas to their places of origin with immediacy for peace and stability to prevail in the areas in question.
