Catholic Bishops meet president Kiir to thank him for standing with the church

Juba, South Sudan.

May 8, 2021 — Religious leaders from Catholic Bishops’ Conference have met president Salva Kiir on Thursday, May 6, 2021 to brief him on the progress of the church and also to thank him for standing firm with them during the recent tragic incidents that included death of Archbishop Paulino Lukudu Loro and the shooting of Bishop- elect of Rumbek Diocese Father Christian Carlassare.

According to the press office of president Kiir,  the president exchanged a lot of views with the Catholic religious leaders in regard to the issues of the Church, general public and in particular on the shooting of Bishop-elect of Rumbek Diocese.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Archbishop of Juba Catholic diocese Stephen Ameyu Martin thanked the President for his continuous support to the church, and also for addressing the shooting incident of Bishop- elect of Rumbek Diocese.

Archbishop Ameyu Martin also applauded the President for supporting and standing with the church during the death of the late retired Catholic Archbishop Paulino Lukudu Loro.

In addition, Archbishop Ameyu urged all the Religious leaders to work with the Government to achieve peace and stability.
