December 11th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The international aid group, Care International, on Monday joined the rest of the world in condemning horrific sexual assaults carried out against more than 150 South Sudanese women and girls near unity state capital in late November.

As the world reacts with shock to the horrific  gender-based violence perpetrated against vulnerable women, CARE International has called on the South Sudanese authorities to take decisive actions and bring perpetrators of the sexual violence to account.

“CARE puts women and girls in the heart of our programming and seeks a world of hope, tolerance and social justice where all people live with dignity,” said Rosalind Crowther, Country Director for CARE International in South Sudan.

The country Director for the world’s leading international humanitarian agency strongly condemned the attacks on women and girls and said the crimes amount to gross human rights violations in South Sudan.

“We strongly condemn these horrendous attacks which constitute grave violations of human rights and call upon relevant authorities to take action to protect the rights and dignity of women and girls” Rosalind added.

The humanitarian agency stated that it’s dismaying disheartening to see South Sudan women and girls suffer the worst part of the country’s civil war.

“This latest spate of violence is horrific and it’s disheartening to see women and girls continue bearing the brunt of the conflict,” says Rosalind in the statement seen by the Nyamilepedia.

Adding that “CARE International is working with communities and local leaders to create awareness on the negative consequences of gender-based violence and to find lasting solutions to stop the dehumanising culture of violence against women and girls”

Care International is one of the leading international humanitarian aid agencies providing emergency response and international development project across the world.

It currently provides humanitarian  assistance for those who have been affected on gender basis in Bentiu.
