Businessman jailed by First Vice President released and taken to hospital.

August 26, 2021—-The lender, Thalage Wal Goch, who loaned Machar about $200,000 in 2014-2016 has been released from prison after spending two days in jail upon directives of the First Vice President’s office on allegations of defamation.

On 18/08/2021, Thalage Wal announced on Facebook that he filed a lawsuit against the country’s first vice president over failure to repay his loan which he claimed to have given to Riek six to seven years.

The office of the First Vice President responded Thalage’s claim by imprisoning him and pledged to take legal measures against the lender for defaming and tarnishing the image of the First Vice President.

In a statement, Thalage’s daughter says her dad has been released from prison but taken to hospital immediately as his health condition has worsen due to 60 hours he had spent in prison without bathing and without food to eat.

According to the statement, Thalage contacted various diseases in prison such fever, dizziness, flu and he is now suffering of acute diarrhea.

“Our father’s Thalage Wal Goch is released from prison, but rushed to the hospital in Juba because he is in a critical health condition after spending 60 hours in prison cell without eating or showering. Now, he is suffering from diarrhea, vomiting, fever, dizziness and flu. He contracted all these diseases inside the prison”, Thalage’s daughter who refused to identify herself said in a statement seen by Nyamilepedia.

“He was unlawful and arbitrary arrested by order from Dr Machar Teny, 1st Vice President of Republic of South Sudan”, she added.
