November 4th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – The Bul Community of Australia has accused the Sudan People’s Liberation Army, (SPLA), now South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) of betraying the people of South Sudan urging President Salva Kiir to release Gen. Buay Rolnyang who was detained following an apparent attempt to defect to opposition groups in May this year.

In a statement issued on Saturday and extended to the Nyamilepedia, the Bul community of Australia said the group is aware of the deliberate targeting of their son, Gen. Buay Rolnyang who is under detention in Juba currently.

“The Bul Community Association of Australia has repeatedly seen the deliberate targeting of General Buay Rolnyang. We condemn the senseless acts of terror against Rolnyang, for which there can be no justification,” the association said in the statement extended to the Nyamilepedia.

The statement further said the leaders of the SPLA, South Sudan’s army, have betrayed the public just to remain in power at the expense of the people saying what it calls tragic affairs lies in the shoulder of South Sudanese leaders.

“The responsibility for this tragic state of affairs lies squarely on the shoulders of South Sudan’s leaders. Leaders of the SPLA have betrayed the public trust and continue to show a perverse sense of entitlement, seeking to retain power and wealth at all costs,” the statement said.

The statement further urged president Kiir to “resuscitate” the political relations with Gen. Buay Rolnyang which it said would be a meaningful step which will work to counter factors undermining political process.

“We call on you, President Salva Kiir Mayardiit, to invest all possible efforts to resuscitate the political process in relation to General Buay Rolnyang. Such a step, I should emphasize, will strengthen and not undermine the political process. General Buay Rolnyang continues to face serious restrictions on his freedom. He has suffered far too much, for far too long. The Bul Community Association of Australia is putting pressure on you, President Salva Kiir Mayardiit, to think and act otherwise,” the statement added.

“The Government has yet to express any meaningful concern or take any tangible steps to address the plight of General Buay Rolnyang. There has been a systemic curtailment of basic political freedoms and restrictions on Rolnyang. A multitude of players is now evident – and the causes of Rolnyang’s current suffering is multi-layered,” the statement further said.
