November 29th 2019 (Nyamilepedia) – The British Ambassador to South Sudan Christopher Trott met this morning with SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny in Addis Ababa and discussed the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement.

The two men met on the sidelines of the IGAD Summit of the Heads of State and Government held in the Ethiopian capital this morning.

Machar traveled to Addis Ababa on Wednesday from the Sudanese capital Khartoum to take part in the summit which is also expected to determine his status.

“[I] took advantage of being in Addis to meet Dr. Riek Machar. [I] Urged him to ensure the next 100 days are not wasted. The international community is eager to see the peace agreement move to the next phase,” he said in a tweet this afternoon.

Machar and President Kiir early this month, met in Entebbe, Uganda, and decided to extend the pre-transitional period for one hundred after they agreed on the fact that pre-transitional tasks viable for the formation of a unity government were not in place.

The two men signed a revitalized version of a 2015 peace agreement more than one year ago to end the six-year-old civil war in the world’s youngest nation.
