BREAKING: Ten SPLA soldiers sentenced to jail for rape charges at Teran Hotel in 2016

September 6th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – Ten SPLA soldiers has been sentenced to a jail term for committing rape during the 2016 clashes in Juba in which the ten were involved in killings and raping aid workers and journalists.

Two is the rape convicts were sentenced to life in prison and the other eight were sentenced years raging from seven and 10.

The charges include murder,  rape, sexual harassment, robbery, looting as well as destroying the hotel and criminal trespassing.

The verdict, which has been a lengthy issue since 2016, was announced on Thursday by the South Sudan’s military court and was witnessed by observers as well as some victims.

The trial which was started in May this year and was concluded today was presided by Judge Brig. Gen. Knight Briano.

The Terrain Hotel, in the capital Juba, was attacked during the violence in Juba in July 2016.

A South Sudanese journalist, John Gatluak, was also killed in the attack at the hotel which was a home to expatriates, including Americans.
