Jan 03, 2016(Nyamilepedia) —— Reports from South Sudan’s Imatong State confirmed that the SPLA in Opposition(SPLA-IO) has defeated government troops in Jerusalem, Lelere and Ichaloro.
According to Maj. Gen Dr. Nathaniel Oyet Pierino, the SPLM/SPLA(IO) military governor of Imatong State, the rebels defeated the government troops and inflicted heavy casualty on the government side.

Pierino claims his forces captured areas around Torit including checkpoints that are only 15 minutes away from Torit on Juba road.
“In the running battle since yesterday gallant forces of SPM/A-IO captured lelere, Ichaloro, and beaten the government forces from TORIT checkpoints fifteen minutes from Torit town on juba road and they took control of Jerusalem checkpoints on western outskirts of the town” Said Dr. Nathaniel Pierino.
Dr. Pierino alleged that while the SPLA-IG has lost 27 government soldiers, SPLA-IO has lost no life in the battle.
The former head of Political science department of Juba University, Dr. Oyet, said his forces have captured weapons and destroyed a mounted military land cruiser pickup during the fighting.
“27 government soldiers perished and dozens wounded. One mounted military land cruiser pickup destroyed a number of weapons recovered. No single casualties on the side of IO!” Oyet continued.
Responding to this report, Col. William Gatjiath Deng, the spokesperson of SPLA-IO said that their forces were attacked by SPLA-IO in Lelere cantonment site, a distance of 30 kilometre from Torit town.
Col. Gatjiath reiterates that the attacking government troops were defeated after hours of heavy fighting and their weapons were captured in good condition.
“36 AK-47, 4 PKM and 2 RPG-7 are captured in good condition. 1 Texture fixed with 12.7 destroyed from government forces” Col. Gatjiath said.

Stop telling lies about ongoing war in the country. Rebels don’t have that capability to defeat national arm of the country.
