September 12th 2018 (Nyamilepedia) – South Sudan’s peace deal signing ceremony has been adjourned to Thursday after IGAD leaders failed to present their deliberation on four opposition groups as of 6:00PM Addis Ababa local time, officials have told the Nyamilepedia.
One official of the South Sudan Opposition Allaince (SSOA)Â told the Nyamilepedia this evening that the IGAD mediation has informed them that the agreement will not be signed today as the IGAD summit is ongoing.
“We have been informed by the mediation that the signing ceremony of the agreement will not be today because the IGAD heads of states are still meeting, so they said there will no be a signing of the agreement today,” the opposition official told the Nyamilepedia from Addis Ababa on the condition of anonymity.
Another official confirmed to the Nyamilepedia that the signing ceremony has in fact been adjourned to Thursday given the continuation of the IGAD summit of the heads of states and government which is yet to decide on the four concerns of the opposition.
“Yeah that’s true, because the decision on the four points outstanding issues haven’t been reached yet,” he said.
